Ross Alexander Coates

Born in Hamilton, Ontario Canada, Ross Alexander Coates is an artist and art educator who says that his work that includes installations and constructions does not fit any tidy descriptions of styles and methods.

He received a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago and an MA and PhD from New York University. He was an art tutor at Canon Lawrence College in Uganda East Africa from 1968 to 1970 and from 1977, Professor of Fine Arts at Washington State University at Pullman Washington.
